Sakura Bisque dolls
The Sakura Bisque (サクラビスク) dolls were created in Japan between 1910 and 1950. They have bisque heads and composition bodies. The rarer ones have a nine-piece jointed body instead of a five-piece body. The larger dolls have glass sleep-eyes.
Most of the ones commonly found today are dressed in Western style wearing a bonnet and dress. Some have also been redressed in Japanese fashion, and there is also a series of boy-girl pairs dressed in Chinese style; the smallest set of these is all-bisque.
